MCCOMB, Miss. – South Alabama women's tennis closed out non-conference action with a midweek win on a neutral court, battling to a 4-3 win over Wyoming in McComb, Miss.
In a long match at a neutral sits, the Jaguars showed their strength and battled back after falling behind 3-1 to the Wyoming Cowgirls.
The Wyoming duo of Noesjka Brin and Nikol Dobrilova struck first in the match, beating
Nikola Novotna and Lare van der Merwe 7-5 to take a lead in double action.
The Cowgirls clinched the doubles point following a battle at number one singles, with Sophie Zehender and Violetta Borodina winning in a tiebreaker of
Tereza Dejnozkova and
Elysia Pool, 7-6 (10-8).
South Alabama got on the board with a win at number four singles, with
Manal Ennaciri winning her first set 6-1 before Nikol Dobrilova retired in the second set down 0-1.
Wyoming answered with a win at number three singles, with Violetta Borodina cruising to a straight set win over
Nikola Novotna, claiming the match 6-2, 6-3.
The Cowgirls jumped to a 3-1 lead following a 6-4, 7-5 at the number two spot, with Noesjka Brink taking down
Elysia Pool.
Down 3-1, it was the Jaguars' time to rally, winning the next three sets to clinch the victory.
Tereza Dejnozkova got the rally started for the Jaguars, winning 6-1, 5-7, 7-5 over Wyoming's Sophie Zehender at the number one spot.
Delien Kleinhans evened the score at 3-3 with a 6-3, 6-2 win from number six singles, defeating Lucia Malinak.

Chems Doha Zeghlouli clinched the win for the Jaguar squad, getting a comeback 6-7, 7-6, 6-2 win over Jeselle Ante from number five.
