South Alabama opens conference action with 4-0 win over Arkansas State

MOBILE, Ala. – South Alabama women's tennis opened Sun Belt Conference action Saturday with a 4-0 win over Arkansas State, improving to 7-2 on the season.
 
South Alabama got on the board with a quick 6-1 win from number three doubles, where the duo of Nikola Novotna and Delien Kleinhans beat Nejla Zukic and Rebecca Brody of Arkansas State.
 
The Jaguars took a 1-0 lead on the day following a tight win at number one doubles, with Tereza Dejnozkova and Elysia Pool earning their 6th win of the season, winning 7-5 over Yasmine Humbert and Sarah Millard.
 
In singles action, The Jagaurs won five first sets over the Red Wolves, en route to their first conference win of the season.
 
Tereza Dejnozkova gave South Alabama a 2-0 advantage on the day, winning in straight sets over Yasmine Humbert, getting the 6-3, 6-0 win from number one singles.
 
Delien Kleinans extended the Jaguar lead to 3-0 with a 6-1, 6-0 win from the number six spot, defeating Ariadna Fernandez.
 
Elysia Pool earned her seventh win of the season with a 7-5, 6-2 win from the number two spot, defeating Anna Grigoreva to clinch the win for the Jaguar squad.
 
With the match clinched, the remaining matches went unfinished. Nikola Novotna and Nejla Zukic were tied at one set each at number three singles, with Zukic claiming the first set 6-2 and Novotna winning the second 6-2.
 
At number four singles, Manal Ennaciri and Sarah Millard were also tied at one set each, with Ennaciri winning 6-2 in the first set and Millard winning 7-5 in the second set.
 
Chems Doha Zeghlouli was up one set on Rebecca Brody at the number five spot, winning 6-4 in her first set, and was up 5-4 in the second set upon completion of the match.
