MOBILE, Ala. – Winners of five of its last six games, the South Alabama men's Basketball team will travel to the Lone Star state to take on East Texas A&M on Sunday, Dec.15 at 11 a.m. CT before heading to Fort Worth for a battle with Big 12 foe TCU on Monday, Dec.16 at 7 p.m. CT. Both games will be broadcast on ESPN +.

South Alabama held off Jacksonville State in a back-and-forth battle to win 76-74 on Sunday, Dec.8 in the final matchup of a six-game home stand. Every active player on the Jaguars scored three points or more, while Myles Corey and JJ Wheat led the way with 12 points apiece. After the Jaguars led by as many as 16 points in the second half, Jacksonville State stormed back and grabbed a five-point lead, 67-62, with under five minutes remaining. South Alabama snatched the advantage back with a 7-0 run and never looked back, securing the victory.

- South Alabama closed a six home stand with a 76-74 win over Jacksonville State on Sunday, Dec.8. The Jags won five of six games in the Mitchell Center in that stretch with their only loss coming against 64-63 Western Illinois in game two of the Jaguar Classic MTE.
- Myles Corey has powered the Jaguars offense this season, leading the Jags scoring in seven contests, while logging double figures in every game this year. He leads the Sun Belt in points (18.4) and minutes per game (34.6), and 20-point games (3). He ranks second in the conference in field goal percentage (49.9) and third in assists per contest (4.7). Corey finished with a season-high 28 points against Mercer, and a double-double 20-point 11 assist stat line in the season opener versus Central Michigan. 150 and counting...
- At 41 years old, Richie Riley claimed the 150th win of his career with a 74-65 win over Alcorn State on (Nov.29). He has accomplished impressive milestones in back-to-back seasons as he became the third head coach in South Alabama program history to reach 100 wins as Jags head coach last season versus Spring Hill.
- The Jags have been extremely efficient at creating scoring opportunities this season. They lead the conference and rank 23rd in the nation in assist-to-turnover ratio with a 1.66 (A: 138 TO: 83).
- Additionally, they lead the Sun Belt and rank 21st in the country in turnover margin with a 4.9 (USA: 83; OPP: 127). - Randy Brady ranks fourth in the Sun Belt with a ratio of 2.2 (A:33 TO: 17), while Myles Corey sits in seventh in the conference with a 1.8 (A: 42 TO:23).
- The Jaguars have prided themselves on their defensive effort this season. They currently rank second in the Sun Belt and 47th in the NCAA in field goal percentage defense at (39.1)
- South also limits its opponents to the third-fewest points per game in the Sun Belt this season (66.1).
- Seven of the nine games this season have been decided by 10 points or less. 60 of the last 104 games have been decided by eight points or less.
- Myles Corey paced the Jaguars offense in three home contests from Nov.25-29. Corey averaged 20.3 points, 2.3 assists, 2.3 steals, and a rebound per game on 58 percent shooting from the floor to earn Sun Belt Player of the Week on Dec.2. Corey's top performance came against Alcorn State, where he finished with 25 points, four triples, three steals, two rebounds, and an assist on Nov.29.
- Downtown Judah Brown - Graduate forward Judah Brown has been lights out from behind the arc since returning for his fifth year of college basketball and third year with the Jags. Brown, a Bermuda Dunes, Calif. native, has put up 10 points or more in five out of nine games this season, knocking down 24 total three-pointers, which ranks him seventh in the SBC. Brown set a new season-high against Ole Miss with 16 points.
- South Alabama has been dominant at shooting the three-ball this season, averaging 9.7 three-pointers per game, which ranks second in the Sun Belt and 53rd in the country. Myles Corey, Dylan Fasoyiro, and Judah Brown sit in the Top 15 in the conference in three-pointers made per contest, each player contributing 1.7 triples or more per game.
- South is second in the Sun Belt in assists per game, contributing 15.3 per contest. The Jags have dished out 52 assists in the past three games and recorded back-to-back games with 20 or more assists against Spring Hill (23) and Incarnate Word (20).
- Randy Brady has been extremely dominant for the Jags as of late. Brady has corralled 25 rebounds (7.2) and dished out 16 assists (4.3) in the past three games for the Jags. ?????
Series History
- Sunday is the first meeting for the Lions and the Jaguars that will count towards the record for East Texas A&M. The two teams met in Mobile on November 29, 2021, which was a 69-66 win for South Alabama, the game counted for the Jaguars, but it was an exhibition for the Lions.
- Monday will be the first match up for the Jaguars and the Horned Frogs.
About East Texas A&M
- Earlier this month, the Texas A&M University System Board of Regents passed a resolution to rename Texas A&M-Commerce East Texas A&M, a move that dates back to the institution's East Texas State University roots.
- The Lions fell in both Southland Conference games last week to start 0-2 in conference play for the second year in a row.
- East Texas A&M enters this week having lost six in a row, which matches the longest losing streak in the Division I era.
- Junior guard Scooter Williams Jr. powers the Lions offense, averaging 12.6 points, three rebounds, and 2.2 assists per game.

- TCU is coming off an 83-74 loss to Vanderbilt in the U.S. LBM Coast to Coast Challenge.
- The Horned Frogs have played impressive defense this season, limiting its opponents to 29.2 percent shooting from the field, which ranks second in the Big 12.
