Jaguars Welcome Spring Hill to Mitchell Center Monday Night

MOBILE, Ala. – The South Alabama Men's Basketball team will take the floor for the second time in three days as they face the Spring Hill Badgers on Monday, Nov.18. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. CT and the game will be streamed on ESPN+.

Last Time Out 

Myles Corey poured in a season-high 28 points, and the Jags held Mercer to under 38 percent shooting to secure a 75-66 win Saturday evening. South Alabama led by as much as 18 points in the second half before Mercer mounted a comeback and pulled within two points, 68-66, with 2:20 remaining. That would be the closest the Bears would get as the Jags outscored Mercer 7-0 in the final two minutes to secure the victory. 


South Alabama Notes

  • Corey has been a dominant force for the Jags this season, averaging 20 points, 6.3 assists, and 3.3 rebounds per game. The graduate guard has scored 14 points or more in every game this year while leading the Sun Belt in points and minutes per game and ranking second in assists per contest. 
  • Judah Brown has been a red-hot hand for South in the first four games of the 2024-25 campaign. The Bermuda Dunes, Calif., native contributes 15.3 points, 3.5, and 4.7 three-pointers per contest. Brown has scored 15 or more in every game this season, including a season-high 16 points against Ole Miss. 
  • South Alabama has yet to record a negative assist-to-turnover ratio this season, owning a 1.28 average margin on the year. 
  • The Jags have played impressive defense throughout the start of the 2024-25 season. South ranks second in the Sun Belt in field goal percentage defense, holding opponents to 38.4 percent shooting from the field, and fourth in scoring defense, limiting teams to 67.0 points per game. 
  • John Broom ranks fourth in the Sun Belt in rebounds per game with a team-leading eight rebounds per contest. 
  • Every game this season has been decided by 10 points or less, and 56 of the last 100 games have been won or lost by 10 points or less. 
  • Randy Brady set a new career-high in assists with seven against Mercer. 

The Series

  • -South Alabama leads the all-time series with a record of 24-3. They also hold a 19-game win streak over the Badgers. 
  • - The Jags dominated Spring Hill last season, winning 91-74 with six different Jags finishing with double figures-- Isiah Gaiter (20), Samuel Tabe (19), Julian Margrave (12), Marcus Millender (12), Ethan Kizer (12), Thomas Howell (10)
  • Richie Riley became the third Head Coach in school history to reach 100 wins at South Alabama last season in a 91-74 win over Spring Hill. 

About Spring Hill 

  • The Badgers enter their seventh season under head coach Craig Kennedy. 
  • Spring Hill owns a 1-3 record so far this season, defeating Florida Tech 89-86 and taking losses to Rollins, Flager, and Montevallo. 
  • The Badgers have a high-powered offense that averages 90.3 points per contest. They also have four different players contributing double figures in scoring this season – Steven Lyles (26.3), Walter Peggs Jr (22.0), Timothy Reilly (13.0), and Rocco Lamuno (10.0). 
  • Lyles is coming off a week, where he earned SIAC Player of the Week honors after averaging 31 points in two contests. 

Cliff Ellis Book Signing

Former Jags head coach Cliff Ellis will be in attendance Monday's game. Coach Ellis recently finished a book entitled "Life's a Dance" and will have signed copies available ($25.00) for fans with 35 percent of proceeds going towards Jags Impact, our NIL Collective. A pregame book signing will be in the John Counts Room for Jags Club Members, and at halftime, he will be in North Concourse for general admission.
