Box Score STATESBORO, Ga.- South Alabama would drop a road contest to Georgia Southern in a tough 2-1 defeat
The hosts would strike first with a quick goal in the fifth minute to jump ahead 1-0. South would respond well, creating several offensive opportunities for the Jags but would fall just short.
Allison Luckhardt and the Jag defense would hold off the Eagles offensive array as they entered the half behind 1-0.
After a quiet opening minutes,
Bonnie Frost would score on a dish from
Irene Campo to even the score in the 58th minute. Unfortunately, Georgia Southern would convert on a 70th-minute goal to put the Eagles ahead 2-1. South continued to fight by creating multiple offensive opportunities but would struggle to convert. The Jags made one final push, but would fall in a 2-1 final.
