LAFAYETTE, La.- With strong defense and even better offense, the Jags dominated Louisiana in a 3-0 victory.
The Jags opened the lead early, as
April Lantaigne laced a goal over the Ragin Cajun defense to give South the early 1-0 lead in the 10th minute. The hosts would not go down quietly, making aggressive offensive pushes as the half moved along. South would also create some offensive opportunities of their own to apply pressure to the hosts. The Jags would carry their momentum into the half with a 1-0 lead.
Both teams played aggressive and physical with the Jags holding on to their 1-0 lead. Despite the many pushes from Louisiana, South's defense remained strong.
Juliana Lopes would open the floodgates as she chipped in a shot off an
Irene Campo corner to give South a 2-0 lead in the 78th minute. The Jags offense would stay hot as
Irene Campo added more insurance with a header from an
April Lantaigne corner to put South Alabama in front 3-0. South would continue to play strong defense for the remainder of the period and would take home the statement 3-0 victory.
