Last Time Out

Despite 48 combined points from Isiah Gaiter and Elijah Ormiston, South Alabama could not find consistency on the offensive boards and fell to Louisiana, 88-79 Saturday afternoon in the Mitchell Center. Isiah Gaiter fueled the Jags offense for the ninth game this year, finishing with 25 points, pulling down two rebounds, grabbing two steals, and shooting a perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line. Elijah Ormiston set a new season-high, finishing with 23 points on 9-of-12 shooting from the field, a team-leading six rebounds, two assists, and a steal.

  •  Thomas Howell has been dominant on the glass this season for the Jaguars. He is averaging 6.5 rebounds per game and set a new career-high with 17 rebounds against Georgia State. Howell is no stranger to Monore as the Natchitoches, La. native spent the last three seasons of his collegiate career as a Warhawk. During his time at ULM, Howell logged 28 double-figure scoring games, scored 678 points, and pulled down 454 rebounds.
  • The Jags have been incredibly efficient from the free-throw line this year. South ranks second in the Sun Belt in free throw percentage, shooting 74.1 percent from the charity stripe. Through 19 games, this ties for the fourth-highest free-throw percentage in program history.
  •  South Alabama has picked up two wins over teams in first place in the Sun Belt conference. They defeated Marshall 91-85 on Jan.13 in Huntington and knocked off Troy at home 74-71.

This also tied for the largest comeback in the Jags history. The Jags mounted a 22-point second-half comeback to secure a 54-52 victory over Denver in February 2010.
