MOBILE, Ala. – Kane Wommack has resigned from his position as head football coach at the University of South Alabama, the school announced Tuesday morning.
A national search for the next head coach of the Jaguars will begin immediately.
"I deeply appreciate Kane's service to our program, university and city," said Director of Athletics Joel Erdmann. "His efforts propelled us forward and we wish him and Melissa the very best."
Wommack served as head coach of the Jaguars for three seasons, leading South to a record of 22-16 during that span. In his final game with the program, the Jags won their first-ever bowl championship with a 59-10 victory over Eastern Michigan in the 68 Ventures Bowl.
