MOBILE, Ala. – South Alabama head coach
Richie Riley has promoted Mikel Kosich to the position of assistant coach and chief of staff.
Kosich previously served as the program's director of basketball operations.
"Mike started here as a GA and has invested more time into our program than anyone," Riley said. "His work ethic and level of care is second to none. Promoting him was an easy decision because of the value he brings to our staff. He's truly earned everything he's gotten in this profession, and I'm so thankful he's part of our family."
During his time with the Jaguars, Kosich has helped South Alabama to a pair of 20-win seasons, a run to the 2023 Sun Belt Conference Championship game and multiple top recruiting classes in the Sun Belt Conference.
"It is an honor to work for Coach
Richie Riley at the University of South Alabama," said Kosich. "I want to thank him for allowing me to accomplish my dream of being an assistant coach. I am excited about the direction of the Jaguar program under his leadership."
Kosich started his career in basketball as a manager at La Salle University. He also spent time as head student manager at Montana State Billings, and St. Mary's College of Maryland
