MOBILE, Ala. – South Alabama women's soccer closed the weekend with a 3-1 win over the Owls of Kennesaw State, improving to 4-0 on the season.
 
Graduate midfielder Gracie Wilson put the Jags on the board in the 14^th minute of play, tapping in a deflected shot from Chiara Singarella just outside the six-yard box to score her first goal of the season.  
 
The Owls found the equalizer late in the first half, with Anabel Orozco making it a 1-1 match in the 42^nd minute of play.
 
After going into the locker room tied at one, the Jags and the Owls battled for most of the second half, before back-to-back goals from Gabby Hollar put the Jags up 3-1.
 
Hollar found the back of the net for the first time Sunday night in the 72^nd minute, heading in a cross from Chiara Singarella to take a 2-1 lead. Hollar gave the Jags an insurance goal in the 80^th minute, scoring off an assist from Gracie Wilson.  
 
Hollar now leads the Jaguar squad with four goals on the year.
 
Senior goalkeeper Allison Luckhardt got her second start of the year, recording two saves on the night, but letting in South's first goal of the year.

South finished the night with 15 shots, compared to Kennesaw State's five.

Head Coach Richard Moodie:
"I thought Kennesaw State was fantastic. They were organized and hard to break down. We could have had a couple more goals in the first half, that would have put the game out of reach but then they scored that goal late in the first half, but the girls battled back and we had two goals from Gabby Hollar, unbelievable. She's a fifth-year transfer and she's proving everyone what she's worth.
 
On battling back after Kennesaw State tied:
"To be four games in and concede your first goal, we looked a little shell-shocked, but we told them to stay calm and stick with the game plan and we would get there. The girls did excellent in the second half."
 
Midfielder Gabby Hollar:
"We came out hard and they battled back, but it was a really good team win to have. To be given the opportunity to play for a school like South Alabama, it's incredible. It's everything I've ever wanted."
 
Midfielder Chiara Singarella:
"I think we are improving, game-by-game, we are getting the best out of us. This week of practice was really good and I feel like if we keep doing what we are doing, we can do big stuff. I am really happy about that because we keep improving and if someone is off, we have people who step up and fill in."
