South Alabama Athletics announces four additions to Hall of Fame

Induction Ceremony set for October 28

MOBILE, Ala. – Former South Alabama student-athletes Charde' Hannah (women's soccer, 2014-17), Kevin Hill (baseball, 2014-16) and Daniel Leitner (men's tennis (2012-15), and former head coach Joey Jones (football, 2009-17) have been selected for induction and will enter the University of South Alabama Athletic Hall of Fame later this fall.

Their induction is set to take place at 10 a.m. on Saturday, October 28 at the Moulton Bell Tower and Alumni Plaza, and with their inclusion, the USA Athletic Hall of Fame will now include 107 student-athletes, coaches and administrators who have been recognized since 1989.  The four will also be honored on the field at halftime of the Jaguars' football game that day against Louisiana at Hancock Whitney Stadium.

Chardé Hannah, Women's Soccer, 2014-17
• Earned first-team all-Sun Belt Conference honors each of her first two seasons in a Jaguar uniform
• Selected the Sun Belt Conference Championship's Most Valuable Player at the 2014 and 2015 championship events, and was a three-time all-tournament selection
• Was an All-South Region (United Soccer Coaches) second-team selection as a sophomore
• Part of a senior group which turned the program into one of the most dominant in the Sun Belt Conference as the Jaguars captured four-straight regular-season league tournament titles and NCAA tournament appearances
• Over that four-year stretch, South Alabama compiled 68 wins and a .768 winning percentage, while posting a dominant 33-4-1 Sun Belt Conference record for a .880 winning percentage
• Scored game-winning goal in South Alabama's 1-0 upset victory over No. 1-ranked Florida State during the 2016 season, the program's first-ever win over a ranked opponent
• Led the Sun Belt in points (47) and goals (20) during the 2014 season in which she was named both the Sun Belt Conference Freshman of the Year and Offensive Player of the Year, as well as the league tournament's MVP
• Finished eighth in the nation in goals (0.87) and points per game (2.04), and fifth in game-winning goals (7)
•  The 20 goals scored were just one shy of matching the program's single-season mark set during the 1999 season
• Helped South Alabama tie a conference record in wins with 19 that same season, while the program set a single-season mark in both points (184) and goals (68), marks which both rank in the Top 5 by a Sun Belt program for a season

Kevin Hill, Baseball, 2014-16
• Earned first-team All-America honors from Collegiate Baseball and third-team recognition from the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association as a senior
• Was named to three different All-America teams — Collegiate Baseball (second team), American Baseball Coaches Association (third team) and NCBWA (third team) — following his junior year
• Voted first-team all-region each of his last two seasons
• Chosen the Sun Belt Conference Pitcher of the Year, receiving first-team all-league honors as well, at the end of his junior and senior years
• Named the 2015-16 Jaguar Male Student-Athlete of the Year and Sun Belt Conference Student-Athlete of the Year
• Ended his career fourth on the school's all-time list with 326 strikeouts, also ranking among the top 10 with 22 wins (ninth) and 298.2 innings pitched (sixth)
• Posted a 10-0 mark, 1.73 earned-run average — which stands sixth on the Jaguars' season record list — and 107 strikeouts, leading the league in all three categories, in 93.2 innings as a junior
• Went 8-2 with a 2.86 ERA, striking out 126 (the sixth-highest total in South's record book and most in the SBC) in 122.2 innings his final year
• Struck out 93 in 82.1 innings, winning four games his first season with the program
• Twice made the Sun Belt Conference Academic Honor Roll during his career

Joey Jones, Football Coach, 2009-17
• The first-ever head coach in the program's history, going on to lead the Jaguars their first nine seasons of competition
• Led South to 19-straight victories in its first two-plus years of play, including undefeated marks in 2009 (7-0) and '10 (10-0)
• Finished with an overall record of 52-50, which included 46 victories against four-year schools, with 37 of those coming against NCAA Division I opponents, both the highest totals in the program's record book
• Was named the Sun Belt Conference Coach of the Year in 2013
• Led the Jags to their only victory over a Southeastern Conference opponent with a 21-20 defeat of Mississippi State in the 2016 opener
• Also guided USA to its first-ever win over a ranked opponent when the Jaguars beat No. 19 San Diego State 42-24 on Oct. 1, 2016
• Coached 39 individuals who earned all-Sun Belt honors on 52 occasions during his career, including the first-ever individual award winner in program history (Jeremy Reaves, 2017 SBC Defensive Player of the Year)

• Named the SBC's Player of the Week eight times during his career, including on five occasions his final season
• Was the 2014-15 Jaguar Male Student-Athlete of the Year
• Helped lead the Jaguars to a 62-38 record during his four years and three runner-up finishes at the Sun Belt Conference Championship
• Went 28-6 in singles — posting a 14-3 mark at the No. 1 position in the spring — and was 20-6 overall in doubles his senior year, ending the season ranked 114th and 84th, respectively, in the country by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association
• Had a 24-10 overall mark in singles, going 17-6 at No. 1, while finishing 14-8 in doubles as a junior
