ATLANTA, Ga. | South Alabama women's tennis closed out their regular season slate with a 4-1 road win over Georgia State, finishing the regular season 17-5 and 7-4 in Sun Belt action.
 
South started the day with an automatic doubles win at number three due to a forfeit from Georgia State.
 
The Panthers evened the doubles score with a win at number one doubles, where Michelle Ncube and Pragnya Kumar beat Luminita Tutunaru and Tereza Dejnozkova 6-3.
 
South claimed the doubles point with a 6-3 win from Elysia Pool and Nikola Novotna, beating Alexia Alvarez and Maria Paredes of Georgia State.
 
South went up 2-0 with a win by default at number six, due to another Georgia State forfeit.
 
Georgia State got on the board with a win at number three, where Eva Chivu defeated freshman Tereza Dejnozkova 6-4, 6-4.
 
The Jags then took a 3-1 lead on the day with a win from Chems Doha Zeghlouli at number four, getting a 6-1, 6-4 win over Alexia Alvarez of Georgia State.
 
Elysia Pool clinched the win for the Jaguars after a win in straight sets over Michelle Ncube, winning 6-3, 6-4.
 
The matches at one and five went unfinished, with Luminita Tutunaru about to start her third set and Delien Kleinhans up 7-6 and in her second set.
 
South Alabama (17-5, 7-4) starts postseason play this week in the Sun Belt Conference Tournament in Peachtree City, Ga.

"Loved the way we handled some unnecessary adverse travel conditions out of our control. Mental toughness for this team is definitely a level or two higher than earlier in season. In spite of a 17-5 record, I think we all feel we left a lot on the table. I think that will provide the needed chip on the shoulder as we go into post season play. We definitely trending in the right direction and won't be surprised if the hard work and fight finally gets paid off."
