South Alabama defeats Hartford, 77-53

MOBILE, Ala. | The Jaguars took care of business Monday night, dispatching Hartford by a score of 77-53 at the Mitchell Center.
 
South (13-14, 6-8 SBC) was led in scoring by Isaiah Moore, who scored 20 points on the night. Kevin Samuel and Greg Parham II each added 13 of their own. Pano Pavlidis and Kurtis Henderson led the Hawks (5-21) with 12 points each.
 
GAME FACTS (HOW IT HAPPENED)
  • The Jaguars started the game with an alley-oop from Parham to Samuel on their first possession.
  • South Alabama created separation with a 7-0 run by Moore and Parham from 13:08 to 8:56 to lead 25-11.
  • Samuel led the Jags with 12 first-half points and 6-of-6 from the field.
  • The Jags' defense held strong to start the second half, holding the hawks to only nine points in the first 10 minutes of the period.
  • Moore opened the Jags' first 20-point lead of the game, 52-32, with a layup at the 12:16 mark.
  • After that point, the closest Hartford got was 13 points, 63-50, at the 3:37 mark.
  • Adam Sizemore hit a three-pointer with 56 seconds left to extend the lead to 23.

Head Coach Richie Riley:
"We're in the winner's circle, and that's the objective of the game…It was tough. A Monday night game, coming off that win on Saturday and knowing you got Southern Miss on Thursday. There are a lot of factors. I wish we would have played with more energy. But, I did like how we finished the game. I liked the defense a lot better in the second half, and these games are always fun when [Sizemore] can hit a 3."

UP NEXT
South Alabama takes to the court on Thursday as they host Southern Miss at 7:00 p.m. at the Mitchell Center. In the previous matchup this season, the Eagles defeated the Jags by four points.
