MOBILE, Ala. – After seven seasons with South Alabama Soccer,
Richard Moodie has stepped down from his position as head coach to become the new head coach at Purdue University.

Through seven seasons at the helm of Jaguar soccer, Moodie guided the program to a 91-36-17 record, including four Sun Belt Conference Tournament titles and four trips to the NCAA Tournament.

"We cannot thank coach Moodie enough for the tremendous impact he made on our university and community," said director of athletics Joel Erdmann. "Coach Moodie inherited a program that experienced unprecedented success, and was able to sustain that success while elevating our program to one of the best in the Sun Belt Conference. His leadership will be missed, but we wish him well in this new opportunity."

Moodie led the 2023 Jaguars to a historical season, posting a 16-1-3 record, going undefeated in the regular season for the first time in program history. South Alabama has outscored opponents 52-9 and did not give up multiple goals in a game all season. Moodie was named the 2023 Sun Belt Conference Coach of the Year, the second time he has earned this honor.

Through seven seasons with Jaguar soccer, 31 of Moodie's student-athletes earned All-Conference honors, including four-time First-Team selection
Gracie Wilson. Moodie also coached five Sun Belt Conference Players of the Year, with Jaguar earning the honor the last three seasons;
Gracie Wilson in 2021,
Jasmine Greene in 2022 and
Gabby Hollar in 2023.

Moodie also coached four United Soccer Coaches All-Southeast Region honorees in
Jasmine Greene,
Nour Imane Addi,
Gracie Wilson and Brenna McPartlan. Three Jaguars will also named CoSIDA Academic All-Americans during Moodie's time at South;
Nour Imane Addi (2022),
Gracie Wilson (2021) and Tiina Trutsi (2017).

South Alabama will immediately begin a nationwide search to identify the Jaguars' next head coach.
