South Alabama Wraps up Homestand Against Lynn Tuesday Night

MOBILE, Ala. – After playing four games in six days, the South Alabama men's basketball team will wrap up a four-game homestand against Lynn University on Tuesday, Nov. 21 at 7 p.m. in the Mitchell Center.

South Alabama hosted the Jaguar Classic this past weekend and earned wins against Denver and SIUE after falling in game one of the tournament to Nicholls.

Last Time Out

The Jaguars put together their most complete performance of the season Sunday afternoon in an 86-74 win over SIUE. As a team, South Alabama earned season-highs in Field goal percentage (61.7) and three-point percentage (61.1). The Jags had four players score double-digits for the second straight game and Julian Margrave and Isiah Gaiter combined for 46 points. 

South Alabama Notes (3-3)

  • Julian Margrave has been crucial to the Jag's success in the past two games. Margrave has set a new career-high in scoring in three straight games and fueled the Jaguars offense against SIUE. The Sophmore scored 22 points and hit six three-pointers in the contest. He also leads South Alabama and the Sun Belt Conference in three-point percentage, shooting 61.1 percent. 

  • Isiah Gaiter is coming off two straight 24-point games for the Jaguars. Gaiter shot a combined 20 for 29 against Denver and SIUE, and he now sits in second place in the Sun Belt Conference in field goal percentage (62.7). 

  • Marcus Millender is second in the Sun Belt in assists, with 32 in this short season. 

  • Isiah Gaiter (16.7), Julian Margrave (13.7), Marcus Millender (11.8), and Maxwell Land (10.7) each produce double figures in each contest. 

  • South Alabama has garnered a positive assist-to-turnover ratio in its last two games. They now hold a 0.9 ratio on the season. 

  • South had two players score 20 points in the same game for the first time since a 77-68 loss to Troy on Jan. 29, 2022. 

  • The Jags shot 60 percent from the floor and from three-point range for the first time since they defeated Little-Rock 77-48 on Feb. 10, 2022.

This will be the first matchup between South Alabama and Lynn. 

About Lynn (2-0) 

  • Lynn is a member of Division ll Sunshine States Conference. 

  • Jeff Price is entering his second stint as head coach and 12th season overall at the helm of Lynn basketball. Price previously spent time as an assistant coach at Georgia Southern, West Virginia Wesleyan, and was an assistant and interim head coach of South Alabama for ten games in the 2012 season. 

  • Lynn has four players averaging double digits in scoring so far this season. Nordin Kapic leads the way with 17.0 and 8.5 rebounds per game. Tradavis Thompson and Ben Gahlert each contribute 15.0 points per contest, while Jalen Gilmore has averaged 12.5 points and 7.5 assists in two games this season.
