MOBILE, Ala. | Three different Jags earned distinction following the 2022 season by being named All-American at their respective positions by College Football News (CFN), Pro Football Focus (PFF), and Phil Steele.
Yam Banks, a first team All-Sun Belt selection, was chosen to three different All-American teams including honorable mention honors by Phil Steele. He was also chosen second team by PFF and third team by CFN at defensive back. Banks finished the season with a team-high six interceptions including one against Western Kentucky at the R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl to conclude the season. He recorded 50 total tackles, including 35 solo stops, with six tackles for loss and one sack. Banks finished the year with 11 pass breakups, five quarterback hurries and one fumble recovery.
Linebacker
Trey Kiser was named honorable mention All-American by CFN as a special teams player after a year in which he finished 76 total tackles, second on the team. He recorded 56 solo stops with 11 tackles for loss and a pair of sacks. He also recorded a pass breakup, had a quarterback hurry, and recovered a fumble (on a kickoff against Central Michigan).
They were joined by
La'Damian Webb as an honorable mention selection by CFN following a year the junior was named first team All-Sun Belt. Webb finished the season with 1,063 yards on 209 carries, averaging 5.1 yards per carry. He also scored 13 touchdowns on the ground, while averaging 88.58 yards per game. The junior also hauled in 21 receptions for 213 yards and a pair of touchdowns, including one at the R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl. For the season, Webb set the single-season mark in rushing with 1,063 yards, passing Tra Minter's previous mark of 1,057 set during the 2019 season.
