Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Jaguar soccer ties Lamar in scoreless match

MOBILE, Ala. – South Alabama women's soccer earned their third draw of the season, tying Lamar 0-0 Thursday night at The Cage. The Jags and the Cardinals battled back and forth but neither team could find the best of the net, giving the Jags their third tie and Lamar their first. Both teams stay undefeated on the 2022 season.

South (4-0-3) took 11 shots while Lamar took just five. Jaguar goalkeeper Jaidy Gutierrez Campos had two saves. Lamar keeper Nicole Panis had five.

South's best opportunity to find the back of the net came late in the second half when Sydney Ham took a shot in the 86th minute but Panis made a diving save to keep the match scoreless.

South returns to action Sunday against No. 21/25 Texas A&M at 1 p.m.

QUOTABLE
Head Coach Richard Moodie
On the match: "It's great to be back at The Cage – first official home game for us really. I thought we played really well against a good team and we posed them a lot of threats. I thought we asked a lot of questions of them. The goalkeeper had to come up with a couple of big saves at the end – Sydney Ham's shot comes to mind. These games without overtime is different. We used to rely on that extra 20 minutes to get the job done and we don't have that now, so realizing in the last five to 10 minutes, we need to be more aggressive in the final third. Proud of the girls."
