Jaguar soccer travels to Mississippi State, hosts Southeastern Louisiana Sunday

MOBILE, Ala. – South Alabama hits the road this week for a matchup against Mississippi State in Starkville, before returning home to Mobile to host Southeastern Louisiana on Sunday.

South Alabama tied North Alabama 1-1 and defeated McNeese State 7-0 over the weekend. Sophomore Monique Gray led the Jag offense with a hat trick and an assist on Sunday.

Thursday will be the 16th meeting between the Jags and the Bulldogs, and South looks to defeat Mississippi State for the first time since 2015. Mississippi State claimed the last match 1-0 despite being down a player the majority of the game.

South (3-0-1) and Mississippi State (3-0-1) are undefeated and the Jags look to give the Bulldogs their first loss of 2022.

South Alabama and Southeastern Louisiana meet Sunday for the 10th time, and the Jags are going for a third-straight win over the Lady Lions. The Jags are 3-1 in home matches against Southeastern Louisiana.

Southeastern Louisiana had two players earn Southland Conference weekly honors, with junior Emma Jones named Defensive Player of the Week and sophomore Olivia Griffin named Goalkeeper of the Week.

The first 200 fans who enter Sunday's game will receive a rally towel.
