South Alabama and Texas State battled to overtime last season and will meet in Mobile on November 12 this season as the regular season begins to wind down.
 
The Bobcats were picked to finish fourth in the Sun Belt Conference West Division behind four-time division champion Louisiana, South Alabama, and Troy. They open the season on September 3 against Nevada on the road before facing FIU (Sept. 10), Baylor (Sept. 17), and Houston Baptist (Sept. 24) in non-conference action.
 
Head coach Jake Spavital returns for all-conference picks from last season and three who were named to the preseason team this year. Texas State also had three players who were named to preseason watch lists as they are in search of their bowl appearance in school history.
 
Texas State will look to Dalton Cooper (offensive line), Seth Keller (kicker) and Kyle Hergel (offensive line) to lead the team this season.
