MOBILE, Ala. – South Alabama kicks off their home slate Thursday with a matchup against North Alabama at 7 p.m. in Hancock Whitney Stadium. Thursday's game is the first of two this weekend for the Jags.  
 
Thursday's matchup will be the second time the Jags and the Lions meet, with South Alabama winning the last matchup 3-0 (Sept. 5, 2021).
 
South Alabama and North Alabama both came out of opening weekend 2-0. The Jaguars defeated Kennesaw State 2-1 Thursday night and shut out Jacksonville State 4-0 on Sunday.  North Alabama shut out both of its opponents 2-0, claiming wins over Jackson State and Belmont.
 
The 2022 season is UNA's first full Division I season and the Lions are now able to compete in postseason play. The Lions return 18 total players and all 11 starters.
 
North Alabama swept the ASUN weekly awards, with junior Alice Bussey named the league's Player of the Week, senior Izzi Gurney named Defender of the Week and Payton Yates named Goalkeeper of the Week.
 
South returns 14 total letter winners and eight starters from 2021 while adding 10 newcomers.
 
Thursday's match will be just the second time a non-football event will be played in Hancock Whitney Stadium. The first 100 fans will receive a jaguar soccer poster.
