MOBILE, Ala. – South Alabama volleyball returns two letterwinners and two redshirts at middle blocker for the 2022 season. The Jaguars open the 2022 campaign Fri., Aug. 26, at 9 a.m. against Ball State in Tampa, Fla. Fans can get their first look at this year's squad on Saturday when the Jags will hold a Red-Blue Scrimmage at 6 p.m. at Jaguar Gym.
RETURNING LETTERWINNERS (2)

Niki Capizzi (6-3, Jr.) – A 2022 preseason all-Sun Belt Conference selection … Named to the 2021 SBC Championship all-tournament team … Appeared in 30 matches with 29 starts last season ... Ranked third in the Sun Belt Conference in total blocks (111), and fourth in blocks per set (1.03) ... Ranked fifth in the league in blocks per set (1.13) in league contests, and tied for fifth in total blocks (63) ... SBC Championship all-tournament team selection ... Recorded 223 kills, a .289 hitting percentage, four assists, 23 service aces, 43 digs, 17 solo blocks and 94 block-assists for 111 total blocks.

Morgan Stalcup (6-5, R-Sr.) – Appeared in 18 matches with four starts in 2021 ... Recorded 16 kills, one assist, 13 digs, three solo blocks and 13 block-assists for 16 total blocks.

FIVE THINGS TO KNOW
- Capizzi's 111 total blocks and .289 hitting percentage in 2021 each rank 10th on the Jaguar single-season record list.
- Stalcup ranked fifth in the SBC in hitting percentage (.347) as a sophomore in 2018. She redshirted the 2019 season due to injury.
- Capizzi recorded five or more total blocks in eight matches, including a stretch of three straight from Nov. 6-13 last year.
- Taylor holds the Mesquite (Ariz.) High School record for kills by a middle blocker.
- Capizzi is one of four Jaguars who transferred from Tennessee prior to the 2021 season.
