THEY SAID IT
Head Coach Nick Brochu
- On today's performance:
"We had a slow start in doubles. I wasn't happy about that and it almost cost us the doubles point. We had to play catch up. We were moving slowly, not playing aggressively and UTA got on top of us. I think we are lucky to get the doubles point. We woke up at the end before it was too late and were able to get the point. The guys at No. 1 and No. 2 played some big tennis and came up big on some big points. That's the problem when you have a big win, you tend to relax and celebrate that big win. The next day you think you are going to cruise. Today was different, UTA came out storming and they were loud. At one point, I was wondering if we were playing in Arlington. The guys got together and played some good tennis. On paper, we were the best team but that means nothing out there. UTA really took it to us and it was close. We need to rest. We have a big match at Troy, our state rival. Troy always gets hyped up and excited to play us. They seem to play their best tennis against us and we have to be ready to step up. This is not a walk in the park at all. Troy is really deep and we need to be good at every single position. Yesterday, we had a great team effort. Today, we had some guys who did not do their job. Some of their opponents got extremely loud and that started some trouble. Overall, it was good. I liked the way we faced adversity with the slow start and getting the doubles point. I'll enjoy it but we have to get ready for Troy in a few days."
