Peachtree City, GA. – On Thursday the Sun Belt Conference announced its 2022 women's tennis awards. For South Alabama Nikola Kohoutova was named the 2022 Sun Belt Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Year as well as All-Conference singles first team and doubles second team. The graduate student finished the year with a 20-2 in singles play. She recorded a 15-1 mark in dual play including a 2-0 record in conference play.
Lumi Tutunaru joined her doubles partner as a member of the doubles second team. The team spent the majority of the year on court one with 13 dual wins. For the year total Kohotouva and Tutunaru recorded at total of 20 wins.
Yu Fujioka made the list of honorees as an All-Conference doubles first team and singles second team selection. The Funabashi, Japan native recorded 10 dual wins, six of which were on court one, for the honor. Lara Van der Merwe was named to the doubles first team alongside Fujioka. The duo led the Jags with 15 dual wins on the season.
