Head Coach Mark Calvi
- On Tyler Lehrmann:
"It started with (Tyler) Lehrmann. His last two times out there he has really settled in; he has really gone to work in the last two weeks just kind of toning his delivery down. He has 90 (mph) in the bag but he doesn't have to throw it every time, and he has changeup back. He had three pitches for strikes and walked two guys, and he was outstanding today. The game starts and stops on the mound. It started with Lehrmann and he was wonderful.
"He is an emotional guy, but he has learned how to keep that in check a little bit. The second and third times through the order he was really good. But he had all three pitches, and that is a function of him going to work and slowing down a little bit. When you have three pitches and good like he is, you can drag a team into deep waters and go through the lineup three times instead of being a one- or two-trick pony, which is what he was for the first month. He had a couple of good starts in there, but he wasn't good enough to get out good teams. Right now with three pitches and 90 in the bag when he needs it, he is no question. You can see his confidence starting to soar."
LHP Tyler Lehrmann
- On his performance:
"I had the changeup working. Myself, Coach Calvi and Coach (Brad) Phillips have been working on it. I haven't had it all year. My walks have been up and not executing. That was really the key today was having that back. It's not all the way there, but it's on the way. With Miles (Smith) being out I knew I was going to start on Sunday. Just going through the lineup and tried to go as long as I could to try and give us the best chance possible."
