THEY SAID IT
Head Coach Nick Brochu
- On Coastal Carolina and New Orleans:
"We are looking forward to playing our next conference match at home. We just got back from a long trip and went 1-1 on the trip. I think we learned a lot on the trip. We had some ups and downs. We took some time to analyze what we did good and what we did bad and try to grow from it. We are playing Coastal Carolina on Friday and definitely looking forward to having a good crowd out there supporting us. At the same time, we are looking forward to playing Coastal again. We haven't played them since 2019. They only have one guy from that squad that is still on the team. So, it's a brand-new team for them and they've had some success in the past. They've been improving every year and are very well-coached. It's going to be a very good challenge for us. After our loss against Georgia State, we talked about how the most important thing is going to be to bounce back. I think we had a good week of practice and it is going to be really important for us to get a big start, especially at home. We need to be aggressive in doubles. Every week, we are playing and getting better at doubles but we have to keep progressing. Even though the doubles point is just worth one point, it's a big, momentum point. We feel strong in singles and we know that if we do win the doubles point, it gives us a huge boost of confidence knowing that we are strong and deep in singles. So, we've been working on doubles this week. At the same time, we've got another match on Saturday against New Orleans. New Orleans is going to be good and we may try some new guys in there. I think it's going to be a good match to try to work on being aggressive. We want to work on transitions and being aggressive at the net to try to capitalize on first opportunities. So, I think that is going to be a good opportunity to work on that. Overall, I'm happy to be home and it's exciting to play conference play again."
