MOBILE, Ala. – The University of South Alabama men's basketball team will host USC Upstate in the Elite 8 of The Basketball Classic on Monday at 7 p.m. (CST) at the Mitchell Center.
South Alabama made history in the first round, winning its first postseason game since the 1988-89 season. The Jaguars took down Alabama 86-84 in the first round of the NCAA Tournament that season.
Javon Franklin recorded his seventh double-double of the season in the win over the Lions, with 17 points and 14 rebounds. Franklin was named the Travis Grant Game MVP after the game.
With the 70-68 win over Southeastern Louisiana in the first round, the Jags have won at least 20 games in two out of four seasons under Richie Riley.
USC Upstate defeated App State 80-74 in the first round of The Basketball Classic to advance in the tournament. SC Upstate finished the regular season 14-16, falling to Longwood in the Big South semifinals.
The Elite 8 matchup will be broadcast on the ESPN+.

All season ticket holder amenities surrounding the game will be open, with the John Counts room being open for season ticket holders that have access to the hospitality area and 2021-2022 season parking passes being valid for Lot 401, the primary Mitchell Center parking lot adjacent to the arena. All other lots surrounding the Mitchell Center are free to park for the general public.
