BULLDOGS SHUTOUT JAG SOFTBALL ON FINAL DAY OF THE SNOWMAN

STARKVILLE, Miss. – Mississippi State's Aspen Wesley tossed a complete-game shutout Sunday afternoon as the University of South Alabama softball team fell 5-0 to the Bulldogs on the final day of the Snowman at Nusz Park.

UP NEXT
- South Alabama (4-10) will travel to Knoxville, Tenn., to compete in its final non-conference tournament of the spring as it competes at the Tennessee Invitational on March 4-6. The Jaguars will open up with Dartmouth and Virginia on day one of the tourney. First pitch versus the Big Green is set for 9 a.m. (CT), with first pitch versus Cavilers set for 11:30 a.m. (CT) at Sherri Parker Lee Stadium.

- MSU (3rd Inn.) | Faapito homered to right center, RBI (0-4, 1 out)

GAME FACTS
- Only one of the two runs scored by Mississippi State in the second was earned, while three of the five in the game were unearned.
- The Bulldogs doubled up their lead when Davidson and Faapito went back-to-back to extend their lead to 4-0.
- Wesley recorded six first-pitch outs through the first four innings of play.
- Mackenzie Brasher, Bailey Welch and Abby Allen recorded the three hits for South Alabama.
- South Alabama threatened to scratch across a run as Kamdy Kvistad walked on four-straight to start the seventh. USA later put runners at the corners after a single by Allen and a fielder's choice, but Wesley was able to get a strikeout to end the game.
- Wesley went the distance for the Bulldogs, allowing just two hits and striking out five. She retired the Jags in order in the second, fourth, fifth and sixth innings.
- The junior righty retired 11 straight following the one-out single in the top of the third to Welch before issuing a leadoff walk in the seventh.
- Allie Hughen allowed just one unearned run in her two innings of relief.

NOTES
- The meeting versus the Bulldogs marked the 11th in the series and one of seven scheduled this spring against a Southeastern Conference opponent. One game with the possibility of a second is scheduled next weekend against Tennessee at the Tennessee Invitational. 
- Allen extended her career-best reached base safely streak to 10 games with her seventh-inning single. - 
- Of the 12 home runs given up by Jaguar pitching, 10 have been solo shots.
- The back-to-back home runs by Davidson and Faapito in the MSU third marked the second time this spring that opponents have done so (Shelbi Sunseri and Georgia Clark, LSU on Feb. 12).
