MOBILE, Ala. – South Alabama women's soccer falls in the semifinal match of the Sun Belt Conference Tournament to the No. 6 seed Old Dominion Monarchs in PKs.
Â
The match was a hard fought defensive battle between both teams, with scoring opportunities coming at a premium for both teams.
Â
The Jags totaled 12 shots but couldn't find the back of the net in regulation of overtime.
Â
After the Jags and Monarchs both failed to find the back of the net in regulation play or the two 10 minutes overtimes, the game moved to PKs.
Â
After a back-and-forth battle in penalty kicks, ultimately Ecu Turkoglu from Old Dominion was able to give the Monarchs a 4-3 advance in PKs to advance them to the championship match.
Â
The Jags will return nine starters for the 2023 season.
