MOBILE, Ala. | South Alabama returns home for the first time in three weeks, facing Texas State on Saturday afternoon at Hancock Whitney Stadium with kick set for 4 pm on ESPN+.
South Alabama (7-2, 4-1 Sun Belt) last played at home on the Thursday night game against Troy back on October 20, following that up with back-to-back road wins over Arkansas State and Georgia Southern. The game will be the first of two remaining at home for the Jags, who close out the regular season at HWS the Saturday after Thanksgiving.
The Jags enter the contest with one of the more prolific offenses in the conference having scored 30-plus points seven times this season, including the last two games. South is averaging 32.3 points per game on offense, while also averaging 265.4 yards through the air. The Jags are averaging 167.4 yards per game rushing, including a week that saw 321 yards on the ground against Georgia Southern.
La'Damian Webb earned his second consecutive Sun Belt Conference Offensive Player of the Week honor for his performance on the road in that game with 247 yards on 35 carries with four touchdowns.
Defensively, South Alabama is giving up just 19.1 points per game and has held its opponents to less than 100 yards rushing this year six different times including holding Arkansas State to -19 yards rushing for the game. They held Georgia Southern to just 88 yards last week, including negative yards in the second half.
Yam Banks continues to lead the defense and the country in interceptions with five after a pick last week against the Eagles.

- Diego Guajardo continues to lead the NCAA in field goal percentage connecting on all 12 of his field goal attempts, including the game-winner as time expired against Louisiana on the road. He has been named a semifinalist for the Lou Groza Award, given to the top kicker in the nation.
- Caullin Lacy went over 1,000 yards receiving for his career against Georgia Southern, joining Jalen Wayne as active players on the school list at South Alabama.
- Brandon Crum will wear the #5 jersey this week for the Jags.
- South Alabama is fifth in the nation in rushing defense, allowing just 85.3 yards per game so far this season.
