THEY SAID IT
Head Coach Nick Brochu
- On today's performance:
"I think the goal today was to go out there and get the jitters out for the first match of the year. We just wanted to work on the basics and see if we could do the small things. I think we are pretty happy with the results. We are happy with the overall score and we are also happy with the overall execution. I think guys fought well in singles, we were loud and we had some close matches at some positions. We responded well and we kept our composure and stayed focused. The little things are very important so you can't just look at the score today. You have to look at how we handled the deuce points and I felt like we did really good. We didn't make too many stupid mistakes and we tried to keep it simple to get the job done. I'm proud of all of the guys today.
- On this weekend's games at Florida State:
"Today was very important. It is a big weekend, we are playing three really good teams, especially Florida State. Florida State is going to be a top-25 program this year. It was important for us today to try some different pairings in doubles. We are going to try some new lineups this year because we lost three important players from last year's doubles lineups. So, we tried different combinations today to see the chemistry with the guys. I'm happy with the results. It was also really important for the guys to feel the game pressure today before this weekend."
