2021 Volleyball Schedule

MOBILE, Ala. – The 2021 University of South Alabama volleyball schedule features 10 home matches, including the Jaguar Invitational, as announced Wednesday by head coach Jesse Ortiz.

South Alabama will host the Jaguar Invitational (Aug. 27-28) at Jag Gym to open the 2021 season, which will kick off at 10 a.m. on Fri., Aug. 27 against Florida A&M. The Jags will host Charleston Southern at 6 p.m. on Aug. 27 before facing Jacksonville (Aug. 28) to close the tournament.

USA will then embark on an eight-match road trip that will begin at the Tennessee Tech Invitational (Sept. 3-4) with matches against Tennessee Tech (Sept. 3), Valparaiso (Sept. 4) and USC-Upstate (Sept. 4) in Cookeville, Tenn. The Jags will then compete in the Jax State Invitational (Sept. 10-11) in Jacksonville, Ala. USA will open that tournament against Jacksonville State (Sept. 10), followed by a pair of matches on Sept. 11 against Nicholls State and Southern Miss.

South Alabama will cap its road trip at the Hail State Invitational, hosted by Mississippi State in Starkville, Miss., with matches against Jackson State (Sept. 17) and Mississippi State (Sept. 18).

USA will host UT-Arlington (Sept. 24) at Jag Gym to open Sun Belt Conference play, followed by a contest with 2020 champion Texas State (Sept. 25).

The Jags then hit the road for a four-match SBC road swing that will feature matches at Arkansas State (Oct. 1), Little Rock (Oct. 2), Appalachian State (Oct. 8) and Coastal Carolina (Oct. 10).

South Alabama will host Georgia State (Oct. 15) and Georgia Southern (Oct. 16) in a pair of SBC matches at Jag Gym before kicking off a three-match road swing at Troy (Oct. 19), at ULM (Oct. 22) and at Louisiana (Oct. 24).

USA will host App State (Oct. 29) and Coastal Carolina (Oct. 31), and will close its home schedule against Troy (Nov. 6) on Senior Day.

South Alabama will close its regular season with a road trip at Georgia State (Nov. 12) and Georgia Southern (Nov. 13).

The Sun Belt Conference Championship is scheduled for Nov. 17-20 in Foley, Ala.

"Seeing the great competition in the Sun Belt (Conference) is going to be really exciting for me," Ortiz said. "I am also excited to see our group, and the growth that we will hope to have during the season. We are going to take it one day at a time and take on each challenge as they come, together."
