NEW ORLEANS – After finishing the regular season with a 7-6 victory over Troy earlier in the day and picking up its 13th league win, the University of South Alabama softball team earned the fourth seed in next week's Sun Belt Conference Championship hosted by Troy at the Troy Softball Complex and will face fifth-seeded Appalachian State in its opening game.

The 10-team tournament runs from Tuesday, May 11, through Saturday, May 15, and features both single-elimination and double-elimination play with the championship game set for 2:30 p.m. on Saturday.

After finishing in the top half of the league, the Jaguars (26-17, 13-8 SBC) will not open up play until Wednesday versus the Mountaineers with first pitch scheduled for 12:30 p.m.

South Alabama swept the three meetings earlier this spring versus App State in Mobile winning game one 1-0, game two 7-4 and 4-0 in game three, which was a no-hitter tossed by freshman pitcher Olivia Lackie.
