THEY SAID IT
Head Coach Nick Brochu

- On today's performance: "What a long day. We played for three and a half hours, but we got it done. Troy is a very energetic and passionate team. The goal was to take the lead because if you let them take the lead, then, all of a sudden, they become much more dangerous as they are so vocal. It didn't work out as we planned.

- On doubles: "We felt very strong in doubles. We were dominating from beginning to end at No. 1 doubles. Loïc [Cloes] and Clem [Marzol] are so reliable and took care of business. We were off on court three, but we were playing well on court two. We got down a break right after the first game, and from that point, we played catch-up. We finally got our chance when Troy was serving for the match at 5-4, and we broke him to get back into the match. Then we went into the breaker, and we felt like we had it. We had three match points, it was a long breaker, and the adrenaline and nerves were high. We didn't execute how we wanted, and we held back instead of going for it. At that point, Troy had the momentum, so we took a break to regroup between doubles and singles. We talked about who we are and how we want to play. We played up to our level and we brought our energy."

- On singles: "I thought we did a great job. We went back out there, and we were on fire at all six positions. We took the battle over and won a lot of first sets. Even at the positions where we didn't win the first set, like at No. 1, I told Julien [Evrard] to be patient, focus on the process, and work the point. He turned the match around like a champ. As soon as he did this, everything started falling into place, and everything was going great. We had to move inside because it started raining, and I thought that helped us because Troy has a lot of grinders. It was fast indoors. The momentum was going our way, and we were able to win two matches very quickly. Julien started playing aggressively to win his match. Overall, everything was great about this match. The only problem was we couldn't close it on some courts. Loic came in clutch and closed the match for us. You never know what can happen in the conference tournament, but he stayed focused on his court."

- On Georgia State: "Today, we have to work on recovery because we have a big match tomorrow. This is the match that everyone's been waiting for. For the last three Championships, it's been Georgia State versus South Alabama, and it's a great rivalry. We have a lot of respect for each other, and we know it's going to be a big fight. Tomorrow, it's going to be hot, it's going to be a grind, but we're excited, and this is what Conference Championships are all about. It's going to be a great battle with two big rivals, so we're really looking forward to it."
