PENSACOLA, Fla. – University of South Alabama men's basketball player Michael Flowers was named to the all-Sun Belt Conference Tournament team following the conclusion of the championship on Monday night.

The senior guard averaged 23.5 points, 4.5 rebounds and five assists in the Jaguars' two contests at the event while shooting 40 percent from three-point range and 92.9 percent at the free-throw line.  He's the first member of the program to receive the honor since the duo of DeAndré Coleman and Dominic Tilford were recognized after South advanced to the championship game of the tournament in 2009.

Flowers scored 29 of his game-high 34 points in the second half on Friday — three more than ULM managed as a team — to help the Jags overcome an eight-point deficit on the way to an 80-72 victory over the Warhawks in the opening round of the event.  After ULM went up 65-57 on a three-pointer with just under nine minutes left in regulation, he connected on a pair of threes in a 40-second span while scoring 14 straight points as USA would take control of the contest.  He ended the night 9-of-15 from the field, including making 5-of-8 attempts from beyond the arc, and was credited with five rebounds and four assists in the win.

The following day, Flowers posted 13 points, four rebounds and six assists against Louisiana in the quarterfinals of the tournament.

His efforts helped the Jaguars end the season 17-11 overall.
