Box Score PENSACOLA, Fla. – Freshman Izzy Ford tapped in a goal in the 39th minute and that was the difference between the sides as the University of South Alabama soccer team defeated West Florida, 1-0, Saturday afternoon at the UWF Soccer Complex.
South Alabama (12-5-1, 8-2) moves to 2-2 on the spring campaign. Both wins have been from shutouts in the spring.
West Florida played its first exhibition since the COVID shutdowns, and will play another exhibition with the Jags with no other official contests.
GAME FACTS
- The match started with neither offense making inroads. One shot on goal, by UWF's Carina Widauer was the only attempt in the first 11 minutes.
- After Ford and Hailey Bastian subbed into the match in the 32nd minute, the changes paid off in seven minutes. An offside at 35:48, gave the Jags the ball. South built from the back with Deanna Green belting a cross in front of the goal, but it overshot the attackers. Bastian picked up the loose ball and centered it. Argonaut goalkeeper Charline Favier had the ball slip through her fingers and Izzy Ford was in position to tap the pass in, 1-0 Jaguars.
- USA jumped into the second half with pressure and attempts from the off. McPartlan notched a shot on goal four minutes into the second frame. Ford splashed a shot over the bar minutes later.
- West Florida built a few attacks in response with Anita Danielsdottir firing a couple shots but the defense blocked one while Luckhardt saved the other 59 minutes into the contest.
- With 10 minutes left, McPartlan looked to put the game away. Laurence Saviana drew a foul 24 yards from goal, off set to the attacking-left. McPartlan's attempt had the keeper beat, but the effort passed just over the bar.
- USA held on against a few final efforts from West Florida for a 1-nil victory.
- South outshot the Argos 11-6.
- The teams each earned two corner kicks in the first half and one in the second.
- South caught UWF Offside eight times to none by the Jags.

- This was the fifth meeting between South Alabama and West Florida with the results
- Allison Luckhardt recorded her second career clean sheet.
- Izzy Ford notched her second goal and seventh point for the season.
- Ford is second on the squad for points and goals by a freshman, trailing Kailey Littleford in both categories.
- Green picked up her fifth point of the year, all from assists.
- Bastian picked up her second assist in the past three games.
