THEY SAID IT
Head Coach Nick Brochu
- On doubles: "We had some positives and negatives today. Today was a tough day, and it was extremely windy. We played well and started the doubles aggressively. It's very disappointing the way we folded at No. 3 doubles. However, Loïc [Cloes] and Clem [Marzol] definitely showed that they are one of the best teams in the country. They gave us a quick point. On the big point, I think FAU just played a little smarter than what we did, maybe because they have been practicing in those conditions much more than us. We had two match points at No. 2, and we were serving on one of them. FAU played well, but we need to be able to close those matches and win, especially with match points and the tiebreakers. We really felt like we deserved the doubles point, and they took that away from us. It was a very big point because the match overall was extremely close.
"Overall, FAU played solid, and I have to give credit to them. We learned a lot on this trip, and we're going to have to learn, grow and become more mature from this. Especially, at the lower positions because they always say that defense wins championships, well in tennis, it's the bottom lineup, so you need to have a reliable one. Today is a mix of disappointment and positives, but we have to get there and work hard because we have a big match coming up against Tulane."
- On singles: "It's very hard when you lose extremely quick at one position. We were already down 2-0, and a lot of the players were still playing their first set. Even though we tell the players to focus on their courts and keep fighting; it's human to look up at the board and wonder what's happening to your teammates because he lost so quickly and that affected a lot of courts. We saw some big battles today.
- On Collard's performance: "Seb pulled up a really big match. He came back from losing the first set and went all the way down to the end of the third. He put up a massive fight, so that was an improvement from the last time."
- On Delcour's performance: "Louis played a very solid match, and he's becoming reliable, and that's important."
- On Marzol's performance: "Clem is playing tremendous tennis, and I am very proud of him. He let the second set slip, but he was able to turn it around and went back to work and won."
