MOBILE, Ala. –The University of South Alabama men's tennis team broke a 2-2 tie with wins on courts three and four to defeat its rival Troy Friday afternoon at the Bruce David Lubel Memorial Tennis Courts.

After dropping the doubles point, the Jaguars fought back in singles play as they won five of the six singles matches against the Trojans. Julien Evrard got the Jags on the board after defeating Pelayo Antuna (6-3,6-1) in straight sets on court two. Troy took back the lead after winning on court six, but South kept the momentum going through courts three and five for a 3-1 advantage. Then, it all came down to Sébastien Collard and his back and forth battle against Trojan Amer Bedwan on court four. THEY SAID IT
Head Coach Nick Brochu

- On today's performance: "Every time we play Troy, they bring it. It's a big rivalry, and they get pumped to play us. Troy is a very emotional team, and that was the mistake we made in the beginning. We started off a little sloppy in doubles, but afterward, we told ourselves that we had to step up our game. We were a little better in singles, but it got tight. We just need to learn to relax and be ourselves because Troy brought it. As soon as they started taking the lead, they became better players. I give credit to Troy because they fought hard until the end."

Senior Loïc Cloes
- On the win: "Singles was pretty good. We made a lot of balls, and I just kept playing my game and moving forward. I'm happy with everything. I practice hard, so I'm always aggressive on the courts. Overall, Troy is a good team, and we played well today. We started off slow in doubles, but we came up singles, and I am happy with how our team played today."
