Conner Basler then put down an RBI sacrifice bunt back to the mound to score Leeper for a 4-1 lead.
- USA cut its deficit in half in the bottom of the seventh. Montiel led off the inning with a walk, moved to second on a grounder to first by Bennett Shell and advanced to third on a wild pitch and scored the game's final run on a sacrifice fly to center field by Tissue.

QUOTES
Head Coach Mark Calvi
- On the loss:
"Through seven innings, we had given them (SEMO) seven or eight free passes via walks, errors or hit by pitch. That was the difference in tonight's ballgame. No one really swung the bat well. I give their starter (Dodd) credit, he was very good – he was as good as advertised. We need to go deeper in the ballgame. Our starter did not go deep enough today, and their starter did. I thought the difference in the ballgame was who made mistakes and gave away free passes, and who got the hit. SEMO took advantage of it. They did not make a lot of mistakes. They played clean baseball and we made three errors; that was the difference in the game tonight."
