TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – As the only doubles team remaining for the University of South Alabama women's tennis team, Nikola Kohoutova and Lumi Tutunaru fought through two doubles matches to advance to the round of eight at the ITA Southern Regional held at the University of Alabama Tennis Stadium. 

The Jag doubles duo opened the day by cruising by the 12th-seeded team of Clara Urchoeguia and Lucie Raquin from Louisiana, 8-1, and then picked up an impressive win over top-seeded Adeline Flach and Georgie Axon of Auburn, 8-3.

The Jags fell in the remaining three Main Draw singles matches, but picked up a pair of wins in the consolation bracket from Delien Kliehans and Tutunaru.

- This singles loss was the first of the fall for Kohoutova who holds a ??? record.
- The duo of Kohoutova and Tutunaru toppled the draw's first-seeded doubles team of Flach and Axon (Auburn) after defeating the 12th-seeded team of Urchoeguia and Raquin (ULL), which advanced them to the round of 8.
- Klienhans won in the consolation bracket in straight sets.
- Tutunaru picked up a singles victory in a tie breaker set after falling two games short in the second set. 
- Doubles play will begin at 9 a.m. on Sunday.

- On today's performance: "No doubt the highlight of the day was the doubles win over the number one seed, but more importantly I felt we are showing signs of developing into a very tough-minded unit. We still leak too many points and with this tournament being of such high quality, you eventually pay the price on the scoreboard. Having said that I think we should be taking confidence from the fact that we are engaging in matches against top 20 programs and giving ourselves an opportunity to win. Definitely exciting to see the girls slowly transform into a quality club."
