MAGAUD AND YEGO PACE JAGUAR CROSS COUNTRY AT FSU XC INVITE / PRE-NATIONALS

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – South Alabama cross country runners Adele Magaud and Kirami Yego turned in a pair of top 50 performances Friday morning to lead the Jaguars at the FSU XC Invite / Pre-Nationals hosted by Florida State at the Appalachee Regional Park.

Magaud also set a new personal best in the 6k distance with a time of 22:09.0=9, while Yego led the men for the seventh time in his career.

NOTES
- Friday marked the first 6k race of the season for the Jaguar women and the final regular season meet for both squads.
- Yego led the Jaguar men and recorded a top 50 finish at the meet and holds the top three 8k times this fall.
- The freshman has led the South men in all three races this fall and seven of her eight career races.
- Peaslee and Flanagan competed, but did not finish the race.
- BYU's Mantz set a new Appalachee Regional Park Course record with his time of 22:47.0, surpassing the previous mark of 22:48.8 set by Iowa State's Wesley Kiptoo in 2021 at the FSU Winter XC.
- Magaud has now led the South Alabama women all three races this fall. 
- Her time of 22:09.9 set a new personal best in the distance, shaving 30 seconds off her previous best set at the Blazer Classic (10/18/19). 
- Florida State will serve as host of the 2021 NCAA Championships next month, marking the first time the Seminoles have done so. Since 2012, Appalachee Regional Park has served as the South Regional site on four occasions (2012, 2014, 2016 and 2018).

UP NEXT 
South Alabama will host the 2021 Sun Belt Conference Cross Country Championships on Friday, Oct. 29. The women's 5k race is set to start at 10 a.m., while the men's 8k will follow at 11 a.m. at Brookley by the Bay.
