THEY SAID IT
Head Coach Richie Riley
-
Opening Statement: "We struggled and didn't do anything that gives you a chance to win these games. Ultimately that's on me as the head coach. We are not competing at a level that we need to be as far as how hard we're playing. As a head coach, I've got to get us playing better. It was very poor in about every area. We are still missing a lot of easy shots, we're not boxing out and I have to do a better job getting our players to do those things."
-
On the limited offense: "We're limited with what we can do with a lot of things. We have to find a way to win games and to be in games in the end including when you play twice in 24 hours. We have to find a way and that's all there is to it."
-
On adjusting for opponents: "Every weekend has a game plan. I thought we had a good game plan both weekends. Friday we got off to a good start but the wheels fell off and last Friday we were able to win at Georgia Southern, so we will use this week to prepare for App State."
Up next: South Alabama returns to Mobile for the Sun Belt Conference home opener with a pair of games against Appalachian State on Friday and Saturday. Tipoff times are 6 p.m. for the first game and 4 p.m. the following day.
