MOBILE, Ala. – University of South Alabama women's tennis head coach Jaco Keyser announced Thursday the addition of Delien Kleinhans who will join the program for the 2021-22 season.

"We are looking forward to having Delien join us," stated Keyser. "She has established a very accomplished junior career, and hopefully she can add to the legacy of the great South African players that have played her previously."

Kleinhans, a native of Bloemfontein, South Africa, is a four-time South African Junior Champion (2015, 2017, 2019 and 2020), and competed with her home country's national team at the 2016 Junior World Cup in Prostejov, Czech Republic. She has also been a member of the national team, which has competed at the African Junior Championships the past six years.

She also captured the 2018 Southern Africa U20 championship, and was named the South African Junior Player of the Year each of the two seasons. Kleinhans is currently ranked 158th by the ITF and has earned seven titles from the organization during her career. 

She was also ranked No.1 her junior year in South Africa and is currently ranked second in her country.

South Alabama is set to open the 2021 season on Jan. 30 versus West Alabama at the Bruce David Lubel Memorial Tennis Courts.
