MOBILE, Ala. – University of South Alabama Director of Athletics Dr. Joel Erdmann released several changes within the organization on Thursday including the announcement that Senior Associate Athletic Director/External Affairs Travis Toth has submitted his resignation.
Deputy Director of Athletics Dr. Daniel McCarthy will now lead Jaguar Sports Properties as well as the Branding/Fan Engagement and Communications/Digital Media units, and Senior Associate Athletic Director/Development Jacob Ludwikowski will oversee ticket operations and sales. Jason Kelly has been elevated to Senior Associate Athletic Director/Internal Operations as well and is now guiding units including compliance, facilities and game operations, and equipment.
Toth — who has been a member of the Jaguar Athletics staff since October 2008 — has decided to pursue another professional opportunity and will remain with the department until May 31.
"Travis came to South with the birth of football. His creation of Jaguar Sports Properties was done with an eye to the future as he assembled a tremendous collection of broadcasting and sales professionals," said Erdmann. "After more than a decade he leaves us in a better place in so many ways. We deeply appreciate his service and wish him the very best."
McCarthy first came to South in December 2008 as Director of Athletics Compliance before being promoted to Associate Athletic Director/Internal Affairs in 2015. He has served in his current position since August 2017, providing strategic direction and oversight of the internal operations of the department, including the areas of business operations, student-athlete academic services and athletics compliance.
The department's Assistant Athletic Director/Athletics Development since August 2017, Ludwikowski added responsibilities as the Executive Director of the Jaguar Athletic Fund to be elevated to Associate Athletic Director two years later. He was promoted to Senior Associate Athletic Director/Athletics Development at the start of the spring semester.
Kelly was named Director of Student-Athlete Academic Services in June 2012, earning a promotion to Assistant Athletic Director in 2015 before being elevated to Associate Athletic Director/Academic Services nearly two years ago. He has been responsible for overseeing the day-to-day administrative and academic needs of USA's nearly 400 student-athletes while managing NCAA academic eligibility and progress toward graduation for the school's 17 sport programs.
"We are so fortunate to have a team of capable and committed leaders who work every day to support our programs, coaches and student-athletes," Erdmann said. "The realignment of selected units from a structural standpoint has been done to enhance coordination, efficiency and effectiveness."
