HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – After trailing by 19 with under 15 minutes to go in the second half, the University of South Alabama men's basketball forced double-overtime but fell to Alabama A&M, 93-90, at the Elmore Gymnasium.
K.K. Curry scored 20 points in a single game for the first time in his career against the Bulldogs on 5-for-10 shooting from the field while making 10-of-14 free throws, but the Jags were led by Michael Flowers game-high 26. The pair fell short of a double-double as Curry needed one more rebound and Flowers needed a pair.
Alabama A&M got a pair of double-double from Jalen Johnson with 24 points and 11 rebounds and E.J. Williams with 14 rebounds and 13 points. Garrett Hicks added 23 for the Bulldogs with Cameron Tucker dishing out 10 assists.

- With 3:56 on the clock, Flowers faked a drive with a step back, and as contact was coming, fired up a three that dropped in with the foul. After completing the four-point play, the advantage was cut to eight for the home team, 64-56.
- South mounted a furious rally down the stretch and completely erased the 19-point second-half deficit by tying the game at 76 with 16.1 seconds in regulation, but neither team could score in the remaining time so the game went to overtime.

THEY SAID IT
Head Coach Richie Riley
Opening Statement: "We did not deserve to win, we played really poorly. We played poorly from an attention to detail standpoint, from a passion standpoint, from everything and there is no excuse for it. We put ourselves in a tough spot and eventually ran out of bodies. We were bad and that's the worst we have played all year. We had fought all of the non-conference schedule to get into a good place, then we come up here and we don't show up and play the right way."
On KK Curry: "He played really hard and did a lot of really good things. He is limited in what he can do as far as shooting the ball and they kind of just packed the defense in. He did a good job of driving and making some plays that gave us some energy."
On conference schedule: "We will let them go home for a few days and they will come back after Christmas then start preparing for Georgia Southern. We will start trying to get better and assess where we are."
Up next: South Alabama opens the conference portion of the schedule with a pair of away games at Georgia Southern to start the new year. The first game will be Jan. 1, at 5 p.m. central with the following contest Jan. 2 at 2 p.m.
