THEY SAID IT
Head Coach Richie Riley
-
Opening statement: "Coach Archie has Mobile on an upward trajectory. He is doing a great job and will have them competing for NAIA Championships in the near future. RJ Kelly was a guy that played for us a couple of years ago when we first got here. I'm really proud of him and the season he is having. He played really well tonight.
I'm very disappointed with our performance tonight. Our urgency to compete was absent for all 40 minutes and there's no excuse for that. When you lose an impact player early in the game like Iorio then everyone else has to raise their level. 2-0 is certainly better than 1-1 but our program is about consistency and being our best each time out. We will learn from this one and get ready for Sunday."
-
On offensive performances from Pettway and Flowers: "Pettway and Flowers made some big baskets for us throughout the game. Pettway did a nice job of attacking the rim and finishing through contact. Flowers is a proven scorer and we go as he goes offensively. He is going to have huge nights scoring the ball as well as creating offense for others."
Up next: South will face Jacksonville State in its final game of the Goldie and Herman Ungar Memorial Tournament with tipoff scheduled Sunday at 4 p.m.
