Opening Kick
• This will mark the only time this fall the Jaguars will play consecutive games on the road after falling at UAB last weekend.
• In fact, the Jaguars have lost 11 games in a row on the road dating back to a 19-8 victory at Troy on Oct. 11, 2017.
• It's South's first Sun Belt Conference contest of the year.
• USA is looking for back-to-back league wins for the first time since defeating Troy and ULM on Oct. 11 and 21, 2017.
• The Jags are 1-7 all-time in Louisiana, having dropped their last five visits to the state since defeating Tulane, 41-39, in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome on Sept. 7, 2013.

South Alabama-ULM Series Notes
• Last year's Warhawk victory in Mobile was the first in the series for the road team.
• It also marked the first time either program claimed consecutive wins in the series.
• In the first five match-ups between the two schools, the winning team has averaged 37.4 points and has never recorded less than 33.
• The average margin of victory is 16.2 points per game, with four of the previous five contests decided by 10 or more points.
• South posted 14 tackles behind the line of scrimmage including nine sacks in the first meeting in Mobile, setting school game standards that still stand today.

Notes From The Last ULM Meeting
• The loss was the first for South on Homecoming weekend in the program's first 10 years of existence.
• After tying the score 10-10 with just under 10 minutes left in the first half, the Jaguars were limited to just 91 yards of total offense the rest of the way.
• The Jags ran only 54 plays in the contest, their lowest total of the season — that figure ranked sixth on the program record list for fewest snaps against an NCAA Division I opponent entering the season.
• DL Tyree Turner was credited with one of USA's two sacks, moving into the top 10 on the school's all-time lists in both tackles for loss and sacks with the effort.
• Tra Minter led the Jaguars with 79 all-purpose yards, putting him over 2,000 in the category for his career.

Notes On Campbell's Coaching/Playing Career
• Campbell's 163-65 mark as a head coach includes going 33-15 over four years at Central Arkansas from 2014-17, where he guided the Bears to back-to-back NCAA Football Championship Subdivision playoff appearances before taking over at South Alabama.
• He has led two programs to national championships — Delta (Miss.) State in 2000 at the NCAA Division II level and Mississippi Gulf Coast C.C. to the 2007 National Junior College Athletic Association crown.
• In 20 seasons no team coached by Campbell finished below .500 prior to the 2018 campaign.
• Campbell has coached on the staffs of Pat Dye (Auburn graduate assistant, 1988-89) and Jackie Sherrill (Mississippi State assistant, 2003).
• Campbell and Jaguar coordinators Kenny Edenfield and Greg Stewart were teammates on Troy's 1987 NCAA Division II national championship squad.

Getting Started In The Sun Belt
• Since beginning league play in 2012, the Jaguars have an all-time record of 20-35 in conference action.
• That includes a 5-22 mark away from home.
• USA is 3-4 in its first Sun Belt game of the year after defeating Texas State 41-31 on Sept. 15 last fall.
• The Jags have a 3-6 record in league contests played in September.
• This will be the first time since falling 28-23 at Louisiana on Sept. 17, 2016, that South will play its first SBC game of the season on the road.

Minter Hits Another Milestone
Minter led the Jaguars in both rushing and receiving yards last time out at UAB, adding a season-long 10-yard punt return as well in the third quarter for a total of 87 all-purpose yards.  It was the third time in South's first four games that the senior has paced the team on the ground and in catches, and his final reception in the third quarter made him the third individual in program history to surpass 3,000 all-purpose yards in a career.  Despite missing the final three quarters of the Memphis game, Minter ranks third in the Sun Belt and among the top 25 nationally with 134 all-purpose yards per outing, and he is also among the top 10 rushers in the league.

Mobley Makes Stops
LB Nick Mobley recorded a game-high 10 tackles against the Blazers, marking the second time in the opening four weeks of the season that the sophomore has reached double-digits in the category (he's the only Jag to accomplish the feat thus far this year).  Mobley — who is tied for seventh in the conference in stops per game — has led USA's defense in tackles in three of the last five outings dating back to the team's win over Coastal Carolina in the 2018 finale.

Senior Safety In Sun Belt Rankings
DJ Daniels ranks among the league leaders in both tackles and stops for loss per game, as he is tied for 15th in the former category with a total of 27 through four contests and tied for 10th in the latter after posting 3½ to date this fall.  The safety — whose 21 solo stops are the second-highest total in the Sun Belt — is one of just two Jaguars to have at least one tackle behind the line of scrimmage in three outings this fall, joining fellow senior Jeffery Whatley.

On The Take
South's defense shares the lead in the league in fumbles recovered (four), interceptions (five) and total takeaways (nine) entering conference action after forcing the Blazers to commit two turnovers last time out.  The duo of Gus Nave and Sterrling Fisher picked off their first passes of the season in the UAB game, making it five different individuals who have intercepted passes and contributed to the unit's totals thus far.

Gallmon Gets Another Career High
One week after sharing game-high honors in tackles — he was credited with a then-career-best eight in the Memphis contest — S Keith Gallmon established a new personal standard with nine stops (all solo) against the Blazers.  The sophomore had four total tackles in the first two outings of the fall, but his 17 over the last two weeks are best on the squad.

Brooks Getting Better
Freshman P Jack Brooks averaged a season-high 45 yards per kick last time out, including having multiple efforts end inside the opposition's 20-yard line for the second week in a row.  In his first three contests Brooks had one punt of 50-plus yards — it came in the second quarter of the opener at Nebraska — but against UAB he recorded a pair of kicks covering that distance.
