-A total of 13 different receivers caught at least one pass with eight recording two or more receptions led by Davy Flenord's four.
-The first score by the offense came on the sixth drive of the session.
-Both touchdown drives for the offense started at its own 30-yard line and lasted 12 of more plays. The scoring drives also culminated in a pair of short-yardage rushing touchdowns.

-All three of Stewart's tackles came behind the line of scrimmage as he had a pair of sacks as well.
-Reed came down with two of the five receptions registered by the Jaguar defense.

Head coach Steve Campbell
-On the scrimmage on Thursday: "There was some good stuff to build off of; we didn't put the ball on the ground and defensively we put pressure on the offense to throw a couple of interceptions, which we have not been doing during camp.  I thought the running backs and quarterbacks did a good job of protecting the football.  Defensively it was a good day, we covered well down the field and didn't allow the deep ball.  Our cornerback play was good and the defensive line definitely showed up.  Offensively we need to be more physical in the run game to make more plays running the football, we weren't as explosive as we need to be and we need to keep working on our efficiency in the pass game."
-On having the first-team offensive and defensive units compete against each other: "My experience is if you are moving the football and going up and down the field against the 'one' defense it's going to be a really long year for you, so I was pleased with the way that our 'one' defense played today.  I want that to be because our 'one' defense is playing really well and not because of the way we executed offensively.  I know we left a play or two out there offensively, we have to get to where we make those plays and we have three weeks to do that."
-On the importance of the run game this fall: "It needs to be good for us, we need to be able to run the football.  Tra [Minter] doesn't need many carries, I told [running backs coach] Larry [Warner] to get him out because I know what he can do and somebody needs to step up behind him.  We've got a good group back there battling for that, I saw Jalin Buie and Damean Bivins do some good things today but I need somebody to step up and separate them self in that group.  We need to get some roles defined in the backfield because we've got to be able to run the football."
-On Jack Brooks: "He punted the ball well today, I've been real impressed with him.  He's been in the United States 10-11 days, the day before yesterday he punted for the first time in front of a live rush in an 11-on-11 situation and two days later he is booming it, and doing a good job working the coffin corners.  This is all a first for him, but he is a very mature guy who has come in and done really well with what we have asked him to do."

Sophomore QB Cephus Johnson
-On the team's performance in Thursday's scrimmage: "Defensively we did really, really well, offensively we did some good things but there are still a lot of things we need to work on that we can get better at."
-On what the Jaguar offense can improve on: "Execution is the main thing, and I can have better timing with our receivers.  The offensive line did their job and our running backs ran hard."
-On the running the read-option offensively: "That was really big for us, the quarterbacks made the right reads and the running backs ran hard when they had the opportunity.  It helps a lot [when that is going] because it opens up the pass game trying to get a big play."
-On the offensive line in the unit's second year with the Jaguar coaching staff: "I definitely have more time, those guys are much more comfortable.  They are meshing together and playing really well."

Senior DL Jeffery Whatley
-On how he though the defense looked in the scrimmage: "We played better on the edge.  We missed a few tackles here and there, but for the most part I thought our corners stepped up and made a couple of big plays down the field — last year opponents were catching balls against us.  We got a little more pressure on the quarterback, Taji came off the end to make two or three sacks.  Overall we did a pretty good job, but we have to get better every day."
-On the importance of having a lot of veterans on the Jag defense: "We have me, Tyree Turner, Rocel [McWilliams], Sean Brown and Jordon Beaton, all of us are seniors so it is up to us up front — because that where it starts — to make plays and get everyone lined up to go play."
-On where the defense is after one week of preseason camp: "We still have a lot of work to do.  If we played how we did today at Nebraska, it is not going to end well, but we have a lot of days left to get ready to play."

Up next: The Jaguars will return to practice at the Jaguar Training Center for a two-hour session on Friday afternoon scheduled for 3:#0-5:30 p.m. (CDT).
