KUHN ADDED TO SOUTH ALABAMA STRENGTH AND CONDITIONING STAFF

MOBILE, Ala. – University of South Alabama Director of Strength and Conditioning for Athletics Callye Williams announced on Friday that Brandon Kuhn has been hired as an assistant strength and conditioning coach.

Kuhn, who served as both the strength and conditioning coach and director of operations for men's basketball at Manhattan the last two seasons, will work primarily with the Jaguars' men's basketball and men's tennis teams.

In his role with the Jaspers, Kuhn not only was responsible for structuring year-round performance and nutritional programs for student-athletes but oversaw the organization's day-to-day operations including coordinating team travel.

Prior to joining the staff at Manhattan, he was the director of strength and conditioning at Coppin State for two seasons where he was in charge of the athletic performance for all of the school's 15 sport programs.  As assistant director of strength and conditioning at Western Kentucky from 2011-14, Kuhn helped the Hilltoppers to back-to-back Sun Belt Conference championships and NCAA Tournament appearances as individuals from the team earned all-league recognition on eight occasions during that three-year stretch.

After earning his degree in exercise science from Angelo State in 2006, Kuhn served as a graduate intern strength and conditioning coach with Texas Tech football in 2007-08.  In 2008 he moved over to the Red Raider basketball staff, working as a graduate assistant for one year — he received his master's degree from the school in 2010 — and a full-time assistant for two more before earning a promotion to head strength and conditioning coach for the program in 2011.

From 2011-17, Kuhn also worked as a private sports performance coach with his clients including Carmelo Anthony, Tyler and Ben Hansbrough, Will Barton, Dakari Johnson and Jeremy Evans — all players in the National Basketball Association — as well as George Fant, who lettered in basketball at WKU but is now a member of the National Football League's Seattle Seahawks.

Kuhn is certified by the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association, and he has corrective exercise and performance enhancement certifications from the National Academy of Sports Medicine.
