INDIANAPOLIS – Following the University of South Alabama women's tennis program's 18th Sun Belt Conference title, the Jaguars were selected to go the Florida State Regional and face the host Seminoles on Friday in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.

First serve against the 10th-ranked and No. 11 national seed Seminoles is set for 4 p.m. CDT.

The Jaguars' last trip to Tallahassee came in 2003, and this weekend will mark their first-ever NCAA Tournament clash against FSU. Florida State leads the series 9-7, but South Alabama has won four of the last five, including a 5-2 victory in Tallahassee against a No. 58 FSU squad in 2003.

"We're super excited," head coach Jaco Keyser said. "Any team will be a tough matchup but we're looking forward to playing Florida State. I'm sure they don't want to play us, because we have enough quality on our team where we can bother anyone out there.

"We're just doing the little things right. I feel like we've been building for a very long time. We're played some good tennis but I feel like we have one or two really good matches in us and hopefully that's this upcoming weekend."

Florida State will be hosting its first regional in program history after posting a 20-6 mark overall and a school-record 11 wins in ACC play.

South Alabama will be making its 12th NCAA Tournament appearance and first since 2015. The Jags come into the weekend at 22-4 overall after knocking off Troy (4-0), Georgia State (4-1) and Georgia Southern (4-1) in the Sun Belt Championships April 18-21.

"This experience has been awesome, especially for the seniors," Keyser said. "You want them to go an NCAA Tournament and have the excitement that goes along with it. It lays the foundation for next year and the year after that."
