THEY SAID IT
Head coach Terry Fowler
Opening statement: "Coming into the game, there was a lot to play for; it's basically been just like the Sun Belt Conference Tournament the last few nights playing for seeding and positioning. I thought in the first quarter we came back and made some good runs and got it to a tie ball game and were looking good, but in the second quarter they took advantage and got a lead at halftime. We just couldn't get the ball in the basket. In the third quarter we made another run, but I always say it's easy to make a comeback, it's hard to come back and win. We just expended so much energy getting back in the ball game that at the end of the third quarter they made some plays and we were able to make some."
On the team's three-point shooting performance: "We told them at halftime to keep shooting them and that they would fall for us, and they just didn't tonight. App State did a great job of being there with a hand in the face, but they were shots we're capable of making. Today just wasn't our day from the three-point line."
On preparing for the start of postseason play Monday: "It's a situation where you have a quick turnaround, fortunately we are at home so we don't have to travel. Let's just make sure we get our bodies rested up, get our preparation for Louisiana done and be ready to go for 40 minutes on Monday night to earn a trip over to New Orleans."
